Richard John Schuety was born on March 12, 1937 to Fred Carl Schuety and Alice (Lahrs) Schuety in Elkader, Iowa. He passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the Chariton Specialty Care Center located in Chariton, Iowa at the age of 80 years.
Richard grew up and attending school in his hometown of Elkader, Iowa. After receiving his education, Richard enlisted in the United States Army, September 19, 1960. He served his country and was Honorable Discharged from the United States Army in December of 1965. Richard returned to farming back home for the next seven years after serving in the Army. In 1972, he moved and made his home in Chariton, Iowa, where he lived out the rest of his life.
Richard enjoyed going out to eat in the company of his family and friends. He also would take pleasure in traveling and would take bus trips to various places to view the sites. In his spare time, he would be content with listening to music and playing Bingo. Throughout the years, Richard would collect clocks that he had admired and a vast collection that he cherished with pride. Family was a big part of his life as he loved spending time with all his nieces and nephews that were dear to his heart.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Alice Schuety; his brothers, Freddie Schuety, Jr. and Carlus Schuety; his sister, Roma Schuety, and his sister-in-law, Belva Schuety.
He is survived by his brother, Larry Schuety of Aurora, IA.; his sisters, Ruth (Richard) Witte of Alexandria, VA. and Betty Boots of Elkader, IA.; his nieces, Twyla (Kenneth) Walz of Elkader, IA., Dawn (Mike) Anzallo, Toni (Dan) Moser, Lynn (Steve) Miller, and Sue Larson; plus nine great nieces and nephews, and one great-great niece.
