Paula Grace Culver, 80, passed away February 1, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Paula was born October 13, 1936 to Robert Dale and Georgia Willa (Gregg) Dale Chariton, Iowa.

Paula grew up in the Lucas County and Wayne County area and attended and graduated from Chariton High School in 1954. Paula then later attended school for a Nurses Aide degree at Indian Hills Community College graduating in 1978. She would go on to use this degree while working in the Wayne County Hospital as a Nurses Aide and Ward Clerk. She also had a fulfilling political career and served as the first women elected to the Board of Supervisors in Wayne County.

Paula was a woman of many talents, she was extremely active on the farm for many years while lovingly raising her children at the same time. Her hobbies included gardening, she was the President and last surviving member of the Federated New York Garden Club, garden shows, reading, puzzles, crosswords, brain teasers, card games, and attending the Iowa State Fair many times. Her membership also included the Mission Circle (Including a Gold Cross Award), Lydia Circle, Citizens Advisory 5th District Department of Correctional Services, the Iowa Tourism Board, Master Flower Show Judge. She was also affiliated with the Corydon, Chariton Methodist Churches and Confidence Baptist Church. Paula believed strongly in giving back to her community and herself made this impact through volunteering with many organizations. A few of the many places she participated in volunteering were the Corydon Museum, Chariton Chamber of Commerce, the Chariton Methodist Church garage sale, delivering Meals on Wheels, providing patient transportation, and Lucas County Hospital

Preceding Paula in death are her parents Robert and Georgia. Left to cherish her memories are brother Gregg (Vickey) Dale, son Kirk (Kelly) Culver of Centerville, grandchildren Kord Culver and Keath Culver, daughter Kelly (Michael) Lowe of Knoxville, grandchildren Skyler Wickam and Tanner Wickam, son Karl (Cheryl) Culver of Shakopee, MN., grandchildren Joshua Culver, Jared Culver, Justin Watson and Kyle Watson and daughter Kay Culver of Knoxville, granddaughter Jorja Grace Culver. Including 3 Great Grandchildren as well.
