May Ida Hogue, 90, passed away July 11, 2017 at the Corydon Specialty Care Center in Corydon, Iowa.  

May was born July 16, 1926 in Corydon, Iowa to Michael and Ida (Dunkin) Nickel growing up she live most of her life in Wayne County.

May married Gerald Goben in 1945 and two children were born to this marriage, Louise (Goben) Moore of Corydon, lowa and Gerald Lee Goben who passed away at birth.

May worked in two different nursing homes and taking in washing and ironing, when Louise was in school. May loved being a mother and made sure she was at home when her daughter was there.

May married John Vern Hogue in 1973, May then move to Chariton and she cleaned houses up until she retired in 1990. She then moved back to Corydon in 1992 to be closer to her daughter Louise.

When Vern had to go into the nursing home in 2012 May decided to move in with him. May left one sister Fay Green that is in the same nursing home and a sister-in law Vera Nickel of Corydon.

May was preceded in death her parents Michael and Ida Nickel, son Gerald Lee, husband Vern Hogue, sister Ruby Darrah, brother George Nickel, brother- in-law Clifford Darrah, son in-law Donald Moore and brother-in-law Earl Green.

Left to cherish her memories are daughter Louise Moore of Corydon, sister Fay Green of Corydon, sister-in-law Vera Nickel of Corydon, two grandsons Jimmy Dean Moore of Queen City, MO. and Robert Lee (Bob) Moore and wife Michelle of Centerville, Iowa. Along with Eight great-grandchildren and nineteen great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family whom will all miss and love May deeply.
