Louise M. Decker

Louise M. Decker, 89, passed away ​Thursday July 20, 2017 at the Chariton Specialty Care Center in Chariton, Iowa.

Louise was born on June 14, 1928 in Leon, Iowa to William Harrison Fairchild and Alice Florence (McClain) Fairchild. Louise was the youngest of seven children born to the family.

Louise married Reinhold “Deck” Decker in 1948, she was an A1 Dairy farmer helping alongside Deck until he had a stroke in 1991 and was no longer able to work the farm and he then moved to the Chariton Nursing Home. During the time on the farm Louise was known as a great pie maker and a wonderful cook, as well as a genuine good person.

Louise then moved to town living in Autumn Park apartments until just two months ago when she moved to the Chariton Specialty Care Center. While living in Autumn Park she loved visiting and eating out with her niece Jean Mitchell. A favorite time of year was the winter holidays and Louise loved riding around with Jean looking at all the beautiful Christmas lights.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents William and Alice Fairchild, husband Reinhold “Deck” Decker, son Ivan Decker, brothers Leo Fairchild, Luster Fairchild, Harold Fairchild, sisters Maggie King, Minnie Mitchell and Leona Turpin.

Left to cherish her memories are very special niece Jean Mitchell, daughter-in-law Eva Decker, grandchildren Cheryl Braida, Kristie (Brian) Davis, Brian (Kris) Decker, great-grandchildren Jenny, Abby, Brett Braida and Zoe, Logan Davis, Tylyn, Triston, Taheton and Tieganne Decker, and three great-great grandchildren.  As well as a host of family and friends that will cherish and remember fond memories of Louise.
