Lorraine Evelyn (Day) Larrington went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 3, 2017 at the Lucas County Health Center in Chariton, Iowa with her loving family by her side.

Lorraine was born in Greenbush, Minnesota on March 22nd, 1925 to Raymond and Clara (Jackson) Day. At the age of six, Lorraine’s family moved to Russell, Iowa so her father could work in the coal mines.

Lorraine lived in the Russell area until her marriage to Wendell Larrington. Lorraine and Wendell were married on May 22nd, 1943 in Albia, Iowa. The couple resided on Wendell’s farm west of Chariton. To this union, four children were born, Larry (Cleta) Larrington, Roger (Connie) Larrington, Linda Walker, and Harold (Holly) Larrington.

Lorraine worked hard to maintain a happy Christian home. She worked on the farm, planted and canned a large garden, and took pride in hanging out “bright white” laundry. But above all, she took great pride in being a helpmate to her husband and a mother to their children.

Lorraine had been a Sunday School teacher, a Sunday School superintendent, a girls 4-H leader, and gracious homemaker. She enjoyed the wonderful bus tours that Wendell and she took, watching the grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their church, school, and sports activities, and worshipping with her Nazarene Church family. Nothing pleased her more than having a family and friends around the kitchen table, eating, talking, and laughing.

Lorraine is survived by her three children, Larry (Cleta) Larrington of Bloomfield, Iowa, Roger (Connie) Larrington of Chariton, Iowa, Linda Walker of Winterset, Iowa, and daughter-in-law, Holly Larrington of Dayton. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren.

Lorriane was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Clara Day; her husband, Wendell; her son, Harold Larrington; granddaughter-in-law, Gena Eddleman; her brothers, Dilford, Howard, and Emil Day; her sisters, Ruth Day, Hazel Neilsen, Irene McCormick and Edith Day; former daughter-in-law, Vicki (Fulmer) Larrington.
