Hugh Franklin Johnson, 82, passed peacefully on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Chariton Specialty Care.  Hugh was born on October 14, 1935 in Indianola, Iowa to Murl (Mike) and Zelma Nash Johnson.  Hugh was raised in Lacona, Iowa, graduating from Lacona High School in 1953.   After graduation, Hugh became a member of the Air National Guard for 12 years. 

In 1957, Hugh was united in marriage to Jeanette Warren.  To this union, one child was born their daughter Judy.  Later in his life, he remarried Patricia Neebham, to this union a son was born, Ashley Brian.

Hugh had various jobs while living in Iowa.  He then moved to Langston, Alabama where he was self-employed contractor.  Hugh had built and reconstructed many buildings.

Hugh’s hobbies were his love of carpentry and woodworking.

In 2010, Hugh retired and moved to Cheney Kansas to live by his daughter Judy.  A few days before Hugh’s passing, he came back to Iowa to visit family and friends. Hugh will greatly be missed by all.

Hugh was preceded in death by his parents Murl (Mike) and Zelma (Nash) Johnson, grandparents Frank and Ida Johnson, grandparent Clarence Nash.

He is survived by his daughter Judy Nowak from Cheney, Kansas, son Ashley Brian Johnson from North Carolina, brother Rex (Kay) Johnson from Chariton, Iowa, sister Ada Johnson from Indianola, Iowa, fourteen grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.  Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
