Evelene Virginia Adams was born October 5, 1924 to Gerald Mandard Adams and Effie Caroline (Morrison) Adams. She was born in Cedar Township in Lucas County at her grandparents’ home.  Evelene had an older sister (Adalene) that welcomed her to the family.  She and her family later welcomed 3 more siblings to the family, Helen, Russell, and Robert.

During Evelene’s childhood, her playmates were Adalene and friends, Dorothy, and Eloise.  They spent many spring. Summer and fall days playing in the timber. Using their imaginations of being grown up. They built fires to cook they foods they carried from home. Walking was the means of transportation at this young age. Good times and memories were formed.

Evelene attended Brush College School until she married in 1940 at the age of sixteen years. Evelene was united in marriage to Raymond Howard Bingham on December 14, 1940 in Princeton, Missouri. Evelene’s sister, Adalene Adams and a friend, Billy Chamberlain stood up with them during the marriage ceremony.

Eight children were born to Evelene and Raymond. Gary Lee, Mary Eloise, Darwin Lowell, Roger LaVerne, Debra Ann and Susan Annette, with Leslie Howard and Raymond Howard passing away in infancy.

Evelene and Raymond lived in many different houses before purchasing the farm of Merle and Agnes Smith, North of Williamson. They raised their five children over the next 14 years, before buying Raymond’s parents farm in 1966. They then built a new house on this farm of his parents and moved into the new house. During this time, Susan Annette was born. During these years, Evelene worked at a mink farm, health clinics in Chariton, and the Lucas Co. Hospital. She worked at nurse’s aide at the hospital for several years.

In 1974 Raymond, Evelene and Susan moved to Chariton to a new home due to Raymond’s health. Raymond and Evelene did maintenance work at the National Bank and Trust in Chariton until 1983.

Evelene accepted the Lord as her Savior, October 23, 1970 and was baptized, July 2, 1975 by Pastor Saucer at the Grace Baptist Church in Chariton, Iowa.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Raymond; her sons, Leslie Howard and Raymond Howard; two grandchildren, Roy Bingham and Marcy Janean; two great-grandchildren, Blaine Bingham and Aerilyn Stierwalt; her daughter-in-law, Patricia Ann (Sacre) Bingham; her parents, Gerald and Effie (Morrison) Adams; her brothers, Robert and Russell; her sister, Helen Burley; her sisters-in-law, Patricia Adams and Genevive Metz Adams and many others.

Evelene is survived by her children, Gary (Kathy Batterson) Bingham, Mary (J Roger) Stierwalt, Darwin (Jane) Bingham, Roger (Kathy Duree) Bingham, Debra (Wayne) Marti, Susan (Tim) Bingham-Logsdon.
