Sorry to hear of Carroll"s passing
As a boy I remember visiting Uncle John, Royce, Carroll, and brothers several times in Chariton, with my dad, Bernard, who was Uncle John's youngest brother.
Guess we sort of lost contact through the years, I am a Geneseo Illinois farmer, like Carroll a veteran, a couple years younger than Carroll. My sympathies! Bryce Chamberlain

My son attended daycare next door to Barney’s for three years. Every nice day in the summer he would be over to bring the kids suckers or popsicles. He was the friendliest guy and I know my son has great memories from his buddy Barney. Condolences to the family on the loss of a great guy.

Carroll was such a warm, loving man. He never met a stranger and a simple "hi" from him could make you feel special. He raised two awesome children. I will miss him. I didn't see him often but always considered him my "second" dad. May you rest in peace, Barney. I will keep an eye on Jen!

John & I are so sad we lost a classmate and dear friend. Carroll had been coming to Chariton the first Thursday of each month to our Class Coffee's. He took such GREAT care of Marydee until he couldn't anymore. Carroll talked to John several times on the phone in the past year. His passing was such a shock. God Bless Carroll and his family. Love & Sympathy sent to all of you.

Jennifer, Jay and family,
We were devastated to hear of your loss. Carroll was not only a great neighbor and friend but a caring and loving husband and father. When he spoke of his family his eyes would twinkle and his words were warm. We could not have asked for a better neighbor and friend. Duane and I look back over many laughs we have shared with him. I remember years ago anxiously waiting for our son Nathan to get home from kindergarten only to find he was with Carroll in your back yard sharing his newly found rusty tin can with his buddy. Your dad had such a love for kids. Thank you all for sharing him with us. We miss him greatly!
